Elba, Ilva, land of steel which has been mined here since the Etruscan age (VIII° b.C.). Land of hard workers, the miners, who lived here worn out underground or under the burning sun.
To this people is dedicated the "Cavatore" fair, a weekend full of events to keep always in mind the history and culture which made Capoliveri.
Do not miss the "Romanza del cavatore": a handful of man wearing miners clothes walks through the lanes of the medieval town with the "convio" - a frugal lunch - and singing the traditional song.
Program
Juni, Friday 3rd
7 pm - Dinner with the miners
Tipical dinner all together in Matteotti square. Historical movies of Capoliveri will be played.
Juni, Saturday 4th
10 pm - Adriano Pappalardo's concert, free entry
Juni, Sunday 5th
7 am - Romanza del cavatore
11 am - Church of Santa Maria Assunta
Requiem mass for the died miners. The "romanza del cavatore" will be sung during this celebration.
During this weekend the Capvt Libervm association will organize guided visits to the mines of Calamita and Ginevro.
