It was May 4th, 1814 when Napoleon landed on Elba, crushed by the defeat of Leipzig and forced to abdicatione by the Treaty of Fointainbleu.
His exile has been 300 days long, and Portoferraio celebrates it with a series of events promoted by the Department of Cultural Affairs in collaboration with the cultural association Historiae.
Among interesting lectures and presentations of books on the subject, dont' forget to see on May 4th, at 10 and 16.30, the historical re-enactment of dailiy life at the court at the Villa dei Mulini.
From May 2nd to 8th yet, take note about "The Emperor's Island", re-enactment of environment and nineteenth-century daily life in Portoferraio. At the Gran Guardia room.
